Rice Says U.S. Will Review Aid To Pakistan

Portion Funds Effort Against Terrorism

JERUSALEM, Nov. 4 -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday that the United States would review its $150 million-a-month assistance program to Pakistan in response to the declaration of emergency rule by the president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

. . . The Bush administration seemed to still be reeling from Musharraf's announcement Saturday and waiting for the rapidly shifting events to settle before making any move beyond expressing strong disapproval.

U.S. aid to Pakistan over the past six years has totaled nearly $11 billion, most of it in military hardware and budget support. --read entire article-- __________________________________________________________________ That's the trouble with 'terrorism' as an enemy. You just never know when the sand will shift under your feet and the 'aid' you were supplying turns out to be terror support of another nature--against the citizens of the country you 'aid.' Ah well, Bush and Condi will sort it all out. Their masterful diplomacy in the Middle East has kept us safe, powerful and popular-- --who could ask for more?
